Lava Peak is a standing ruin, an 8x8 observation only wood ground cabin with a wood catwalk. The cabin is reminiscent of far earlier observation cabins. A trailer (TLR) residence is also noted on the Thornton survey.
As of May 2025, the walls have collapsed but the platform is mostly intact. Most of the roof is on the ground about 50 feet down the hill.
