Description
Pine Mountain was selected as a lookout site after a seen area survey was completed in 1934. The structure was a California Region 5 Plan BC-301 cabin atop a 10 foot open timber tower.
The lookout was no longer staffed for fire detection by the late 1940's and was used for a Los Angeles County cloud seeding project for a time in the early to mid 1960's.
The building was burned by 'hippies' in 1968 and not rebuilt.
