The 60’ tower was constructed and operated by the Los Angeles County Fire and Forestry Department from 1934 to perhaps as late as 1960.  The first photo credit is “Skywatchers of the Hinterlands” a publication of the USFS in the 1940’s.  The second, showing the foundation “legs” in their original location, being reutilized to hold a communications vault, is a photo courtesy of Charlie Karayan.  The aerial is from Google Earth.  The elevation is 2991.
