Description

This 23' open wooden observation tower with 10' wooden square observation platform was built during July and August of 1938 by the men of Company 1195 of the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), based at nearby Camp S-64, Camp Filley. The tower was built on the site of a 1932 forest fire using timber from the surrounding forest. It was reached by two sets of stairs with hand railings and one landing. The tower required 71 man-days to erect at a total cost of $282.43. The men labored for $2.11 a day. Supervision costs were $85.25 for the whole project. The concrete footings remain.
