This 40' treated timber tower with 14'X14' Cab with catwalk, built in 1938, was located on Walker Mountain in the northwest portion of Wythe County, Virginia. The tower has since been dismantled, and all that remains are the four footers and two concrete steps. The Appalachian Trail used to pass by the tower until the trail was relocated further north in 1977. The trail was relocated due to inadequate water sources along the Walker Mountain ridge. There is still a maintained hiking trail, "Walker Mountain Trail", which follows along the ridge of the mountain and passes by the former lookout tower location.
