The original wooden tower on Mt. Pisgah was erected by members of the CCCs in 1941 under the direction of foreman Leo Harbaugh. The lookout tower was staffed through the 1965 season.
The News-Letter Journal in Newcastle tells what happened to the tower afterwards, "September 15, 1966- Construction workers are currently in the process of disassembling the Pisgah Lookout Tower. The tower will be taken to the Seth Bullock Lookout site and installed there." The lookout tower still stands at the Seth Bullock site but is not used for fire detection. Last person to staff the site was LeNora Sundstrom.
